Welcome to Screen Academy
At Screen Academy we believe that everybody should be offered the chance to train as a television actor. With that in mind, we have set up some ‘Script to screen’ classes for the general public. With classes for all ages and abilities, whether you want to participate just for fun, or because you want to be the next er... Brad Pitt, or maybe your child has star quality? Our acting for camera classes are right up your street (not literally).
Media production
Screen Academy has been commissioned to write, film and produce several short films for local authorities, charities and educational organisations. Further details can be found in the PROJECTS section of the website.

Projects
Working with the now diminished Spell (extended services Sheffield) and the Ecclesfield School, Screen Academy took on its maiden voyage into the world of production. Working closely with the teenagers at the school, the 15 strong group had a 12 week crash course into television acting, hitting the mark, finding the lesson, learning lines and rehearsing in front of a tracking cameraman.
"“The kids excelled themselves, they took to it like a fish to water... in fact a few times we had to pull them away from the shot!” " Lee Otway, Screen Academy leader.
After 12 weeks they had worked together to form an original script based on peer pressure, including the intertwining of 4 stories focussing on knife crime, bullying, drugs, sex and love. The script was a very complicated story which reveals the outcome of how one persons actions can affect anothers and eventually, terrible things can happen like a dominoes crashing into each other one after the other.
Enlisting the help of professional production company Kestrel films of music video fame, the team set to work filming an intricate story. After four days of gruelling hard work, alot of waiting around!! And some amazing performances from all involved, the final product was ready for edit! After a long and arduous shoot, after weeks of training and prep the final product was deemed a major success.
