TERM ONE
The first 8 classes will comprise of
confidence building and game playing to introduce you to performing
without alienating the more experienced students that may be
attending. An emphasis will be put on improvisation whilst keeping
the classes fun and not allowing students to have too much
'down-time'. You will also be asked to write your own short scenes to
encourage you to get used to text whilst at the same time using your
own imagination.
The start of each class will involve some sort
of short warm up or fun game to make everyone laugh and loosen
up.
TERM
TWO
During the next 5 weeks you will
begin to look at different texts from the classics to more
contemporary playwrights. For example Osborne, Ayckbourn, Cartwright,
Bennett and Pinter and their likes maybe included.
During this
time you will be asked to learn your chosen piece and perform it in
front of the class. Where possible the tutor will try to create an
environment which is close to a real performance situation.
TERM

During this period you will look
into acting for the camera. With tuition from experienced film makers
about individual performances on film e.g. male and female screen
legends and how they performed in their defining films.
Audition
techniques and technical tips will be given at this point e.g.
hitting marks whilst acting in front of a camera, eye lines and the
difference between acting on stage and TV/Film will be
discussed.
TERM

Working towards the production of a
short film or showreel. With a look at different locations and
choosing or even writing a script with this in mind. A copy of each
showreel will then be passed on to a selection of casting
directors.
Where possible well known actors from the
world of television and film will be dropping by each class to talk
to the students and allow them to see that they may be not that far
away from achieving their dreams after all!
